Too hot for WWII

We are in Kanchanburi now which is a town a bit southwest of Bangkok. It's where the Bridge Over The River Kwai is which is an important WWII site where the Japanese forced hundreds of thousands of POWs to complete the "Death Railway" and the bridge. This resulted in most of them dying in horrible ways. So there's your history lesson. BUT it's really hot here so we've not done much.

A couple of days ago we turned up and what Lonely Planet reckons the is the best guesthouse. In an unprecidented turn of events it actually is! Freaky shit, I tell you. Normally it seems that the guesthouses they choose to rave about are picked randomly and other amazing places are just given strange reviews. Oh well, yeah, Apple Guesthouse is really good. It's so good we've just ended up hanging around our bungalow most of the time smiting down the evil mosquitos with our powerful new anti-mosquito weaponry and drinking Singhas that we cool in the toilet flushing water. Model tourists we are...

We did actually go to a war museum which was interesting and then yeserday we went out for a Cornetto but accidentally ended up going to the bridge to have a squizz. Well, it's a bridge with an enormous amount of full on holiday resort type stuff around it. No amazing in itself but these things make you think a bit. We also spotted a big group of japanese tourists doing the conga across the bridge....bit distasteful no? Japanese tourists are out of control! They still run a train across it as well which I think is a bit off. Oh well.

Today, we will be lying around more and eating lots of nice food from the guesthouse resturant which is extremely good but we are planning one activity - We are going to see the FLOATING NUN...it's a nun that can float on water...good eh? We are quickly growing a powerful perversion for obscure attractions. We were told the other day that theres a place where you can go and see an elephant band play tunes....WOW! For now though, we will be heading for the dancing flower. This is the whole other side of the country (24 hours of coach travel) for just this. Hmm...

After that we'll be meeting Rachel for another no doubt unusual Bangkok night out and then onto Cambodge for some military action! Sorry for being so informative in this entry. Sometimes I just get the urge...
