We are now installed in the cheesey party island of Koh Phangan and attempting to meet all the people who are supposedly here. We got Rachel so far, Bryony is on the island in an undisclosed reggae bar (which here, is like saying "I'm in a pub in London...come and find me" - sorry Bryony! We start the search shortly), Daz is due to turn up in a few days time and so far we don't know where Helen and Jez are (Where are you Helen and Jez?). So in the interests of practicality here's where we are at:
Phangan Great Bay which is just south of Hat Yao Beach on the west side of the island. We are number 18 on this map.
We rarely move away from the porch of our bungalow so we are easy to find.
So yeah, first impression are better than I'd have imagined. As most people porbably know it's the island where that Leonardo Thingy goes to in The Beach and it's got a big reputation for being a big backpackers place so, while I'm up for a bit of "partying" as the americans would say, I had expected it to be pretty built up with the old Thai Shit Buildings (TM) but it's actually all pretty nice and leafy and pretty chilled. It's got a real festival atmosphere. No one doing anything in particular and wondering around looking battered at all times of the day etc etc but it's pretty nice.
The place we are staying has your regular bug infested bamboo bunglalows. When we checked in we were shown the Full Moon Party Rules. It seemed there is only one rule:
Do not buy drugs at the Full Moon Party - you don't know what you are getting. Buy them from us. Weed 500B Mushrooms 600B.
Interesting style. Isn't it nice how they look after you?
On a final note, why is it that Americans always make a WOOO!!!! noise when they are drunk? Answers on a postcard please.
Final final, cheers to you everyone for sending emails - I will reply to you eventually but here the internet is 2 Baht a minute which is just bloody ludicrous.

Oh and by the way, we've just got to Had Rin, it is a huge building site full of Thai Shit Buildings - I think we just found a decent bit by accident. However, last night a bloke in the bungalow next to us seemed to have a bit of a drug mishap and spent half and hour screaming like a girl and spewing. Yeah!

ok, problem is i'm not in a gh. i'm in a room above a bike shop (typical me style-y!) - almost opposite the 'rasta bar' v small and generally closed as far as i can tell, dead close to the 'namaste indian chai house and resturant' - out of town a tiny bit - hat rin.. but, i'm in the room next to Anna and Alec - he's thai and works with / in the big reggae bar with the scary plastic rasta man outside. i'm not sure what the plan is tonight but i'll keep an eye out for you. does your hostel have a phone no? i might pop round tommorrow and harras you newly-weds.
